THE HAUPTMANN CASE

The United States Supreme Court at Washington handed down its decision today refusing to review the conviction of Hauptmann for--the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby.
The Court denied the contention that Hauptmann's constitutional rights had been violated by the manner ia which the trial was conducted. .
Hauptmah can still appeal to the New Jersey Board of Pardons for "clemency or seek a new trial if adequate new evidence is discovered oa which to base a petition.
Detective Parker today severelycriticised the method of prosecution of Hauptmann and declared that he would stake his life's reputation that the German carpenter is not guilty of the kidnapping and murder. "The case was two and a half years old in. the summer of 1934, and they had to have someone to hang it on, and Hauptmann was a good victim," h« said.
