BUT RATHER MORE WIND

Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate, but gradually increasing, northerly winds. Weather fair to fine and warm.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued- at noon today, is still for light to moderate and variable winds in mo^t places, but northerlies will * predominate and freshen in and south of Cook Strait. A continuance of fair to fine weather may be expected in most districts, but scattered light rain-is probable in Westland and in Jhe far south. Temperatures will be warm.

The anticyclone which has been covering New Zealand since the beginning of the month is now centred to the east of the North Island. There has been a continuance of fine and warm weather generally, but a few light showers have fallen in isolated places in the western and southern districts of the South Island, and at 9 a.m. today it was misty and showery at Nelson. Winds have been light and variable, but mainly from some northerly direction south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint.

Auckland has had fair to fine and warm weather with a gentle southerly wind.

It was cloudy in Wellington early yesterday morning, but the greater part of the day was fine, warm, and sunny, with a northerly breeze. The hours of bright sunshine totalled 9.3, and the maximum temperature was one of 70 degrees.

Christchurch had a bright sunny day with a north-easterly breeze. It clouded over about 6 p.m., but cleared again early this-morning. '

In Dunedin it was fine with passing cloud, but two points of rain fell during the night. The wind there has been very light and mainly from the east. The weather this morning was clear. '
