QUANTITY EECOVEBED

CHARGE TO BE BROUGHT

AUCKLAND, December 9.

A quantity of bar gold which has been identified as part of that stolen from the premises of Mr, James Pascoe, a jeweller in Karangahape Road, Newton, last August, is in tlia hands of the police. Nine pieces worth £35 have been recovered so far. and an expert has identified each as being from the firm's stock. The gold was sold to a jeweller in the city towards the end of last week.

A charge in connection with the gold will be brought against a man who is at present in remand on another count. A second man, who was arrested some time ago and charged with breaking and entering the firm's premises, is at present awaiting trial in the Supreme Court.

Precious metals and jewellery of a total value of over £1100 were stolen from. Mr. Pascoe's shop. The intruders climbed to the roof of an adjoining building and cut away with a hacksaw an iron bar protecting one of the workroom windows. They blew open the safe in one of the offices and opened with a key the workroom safe, from which the bulk of the valuables was stolen.
