RIFLE SHOOTING

KARORI CLUB

The Karori Club fired the first stage of the Willoughby Cup competition on Saturday afternoon. This is the club's annual service competition, and it comprises all the shoots in the musketry course as prescribed for rifle clubs in the Defence Regulations along with the series of service matches contained in the National Rifle Association's programme. Some excellent scores were made on Saturday, an outstanding feature beinf| T. H. R. Boon's score of 47 out of 50 in the rapid-firing shoot. In this shoot, which consists of ten shots fired in .45 seconds, Boon scored seven bulls and three 4's.

The following are the detailed scores, the separate columns being: (1) Five shots grouping at 100 yards (possible 25); (2) five shots application at 200 yards (possible 25); (3) five shots snap shooting at 200 yards (possible 15); (4) ten shots rapid shooting at 200 yards (possible 50); (5) five shots application at 300 yards (possible 25): —
