BASIN RESERVE
USE FOR ATHLETICS
CONCESSION BY COUNCIL
Greater latitude in the use of the Basin Reserve for athletics by the Wellington centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, which has been conceded by the Wellington City Council, will be welcomed by all district athletes. Advice of this more generous treatment was received at a meeting of the centre last evening. A letter received from the parks and reserves department of the City Council advised that the centre had been granted; the use of the Ba6in Reserve on the evening of December- 16.
The Town Clerk (Mr. E. P. Norman) stated that the, reserves committee would be prepared to approve of twilight sports meetings being held on the Basin Reserve each Monday, and of granting the centre the uste of the reserve oh two additional Saturday afternoons for sports meetings, subject to satisfactory arrangements being made with the Wellington Cricket Association. Mr. Norman asked ,that the centre confer with the director of parks regarding training facilities at the Basin.
