H.M.S. WELLINGTON

VISIT TO PICTON

A number of official calls were made when H.M.S. Wellington berthed at Picton. on Saturday morning, the Mayor, Mr. Riddell, and the Town Clerk, Mr. Blake, meeting Commander Hall and welcoming him and his officers and men to the town.

A dance was arranged by the Navy League in the league's hall on Saturday night, and' every evening during the vessel's stay dances are to be held for the men, the partners being girls belonging to the junior branch of the Navy League.

Yesterday Commander Hall entertamed at lunch the Mayor and Mayoress and a number of Navy League officials, and the party afterwards proceeded to Havelock, where Commander Hall presented a picture of Lord Rutherford of Nelson, to the Havelock School.

H.M.S. Wellington will leave Picton tomorrow morning for Nelson.
