BUTTER EXPORTS

CONTROL AGREEMENT

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

CONTINUITY OF SUPPLY

j Culled Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 8. Representatives of the Australian and New Zealand Dairy Boards, who '. are meeting at Sydney, readied an agreement regarding regular shipments from Australia and New Zea--1 land to overseas markets, and an effort will.be made this season to prevent fluctuations which have occurred ;in the past to the detriment of the butter industry.

Dr. Earle Pag& Federal Minister of Commerce, addressing the delegates, emphasised the value of co-operation in view of the fact that the flush of the season in both countries was identical, necessitating care to prevent surpluses of butter going on 'che overseas market at the same time. He pointed out that the market in England was stabilised and economic nationalism was shutting them out of markets elsewhere. It was therefore essential to present a common front in the matter of restrictions and if these were imposed they should be against foreigners. The chairman, Mr. T. F. Plunkett, announced at the- close of the conference that there was likely to be closer co-operation between the two boards, which had agreed upon several questions. Others remained over for consideration by the Governments concerned. ' A decision had been reached to regulate shipments of dairy produce, which would mean holding back some butter during the flush of the season to be sent forward later. This would ensure continuity of supply. ,
