BRISBANE, This Day

The Queensland Premier and Treasurer (Mr. W. Forgan-Smith), in presenting the Budget, predicted a deficit of £,1,162,373 for th£ current year. He declared that but for the recent drought there would have been a reasonable prospect of balancing the Budget. The anticipated receipts total £15,036,810, and the expenditure £16^199.183.

A reduction of Id in the pound in the unemployment relief tax, is the only -taxation relief.
