RELEASE FOR CEREMONY
(By Telegraph—Press-Association.) \ ■ AUCKLAND, October 8. i
The projected wedding'today between a man on remand orfa burglary; charge and'a woman aged^ii'six years his junior,! did not take place, it beingfound necessary to seek-the permission. of the Prisons Department in Wellington to obtain the release of the mart from custody for the ceremony. In such a circumstance an escort will be necest sary. •
The man was arrested last Saturday; and he has since been in custody. The woman concerned took out: a marriage licence and arrangements were made to hold the wedding at a city church, late in the afternoon: • '
In .the first place there' "was a suggestion that the marriage sh6uld take place in prison but tnis..was. found to be impracticable- as the licence cited a particular church as the.place for the wedding. Authorities in Auckland gave the question hurried-considera-tion. As a result it was decided that permission to release the man from custody would have to be obtained from Wellington and the intention to hold the marriage at the stipulatedvtime was abandoned.
It is expected the required application to the authorities will be made and that the wedding will take'placs shortly.
