Battlefield, winner of the Methven Trotting Cup last Saturday, has developed into a good-looking gelding andVon his latest form he should have no trouble in going on to further successes. He was always up with the vanguard on Saturday and he outclassed them all at the business end. When he made his debut at Forburv last season Battlefield created a big impression and quite a number oT good judges endeavoured to buy him, but he was not for'sale. Since then he has won three races. He is a five-year-old by Man o' War from Golden Vale, and he is owned by Mr. F..P. Brosnan/who trains him at Kerrytowh. ; Immediately after Saturday's race the president of the club, Mr. S. G. Holmes,, presented Mr. Brosnan with a canteen of cultery of the value of £2^ which was part of the first prize. M Holmes, the driver, received a goldmounted whip to mark the occasion.
