PETONE-HUTT GAS BOARD
The chairman (Mr. W) G. Lodder) presided at the meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board last evening. The works manager (Mr. C. Shaw) reported that during September the gas manufactured was 9,217,000 cubic feet, which was a decrease of 18,000 cubic feet compared with the same month last year and a decrease of 384,000 cubic feet compared with August of this year. The average make, per ton was 15,569 cubic feet. The average calorific value was 467 British thermal units.
The secretary and distribution officer (Mr. O. Silbery), in his report for September, stated that 13 new services, 13 new cookers, 2 builders' cookers, 1 copper, 1 caliphont, 1 gas fire, 2 hptplates> and 22 new meters were installed. The number of cookers renewed was 11.
It was reported that the whole of the work in Waterloo Road had been completed. In , Buckley Street, Lower Hutt,- the whole of the 3-ihch main was being taken up, cleaned, and relaid.
Reporting on the industrial exhibition at Lower Hutt, .Mr! Silbery said he was sure that the display by the board and the cookery demonstration would be of great benefit in the near future.' He thanked Messrs. M. J. and F. J. Kennedy, of the Wellington Gas Co., and staff for their assistance, and also the staff of the board.

Mr. Silbery. replied that he could not say about orders, but there was no doubt that they had • succeeded in interesting the people • whom they wanted to interest. A number of builders had been most favourably impressed.
Members spoke in high terms of the attractiveness of the board's exhibit at the exhibition.
