Wellington beat Hutt Valley by 23 games to 17 in a representative table tennis match on Monday. Play was keen, but there were no outstanding games. The women's matches were exceedingly close, but Wellington was clearly superior in the men's section. Results were as follows:— Men's Singles. Kennedy beat Longmore; beat Hughes, 21-19, 21-14; beat McFarlane, 21-17, 21-17; beat Ridler, 21-16, 18-21, 21-15. Hay vice lost to Longmore, 17-21, 21----17, 17-21; beat Ridler, 21-12, 24-26, 21-13; beat McFarlane, 21-12, 21-11; beat Hughes, 22-20, 21-15. Williams beat Longmore, 21-18, 18-21, 21-15; beat Hughes, 21-18, 21-15; beat Ridler, 21,-14, 21-11; beat McFarlane, 21-18, 21-12. Osbaldiston lost to Longmore, 21-20, 19-21, 15-21; beat Hughes, 21-15, 21-11; lost to Ridler, 18-21, 21-23; lost to McFarlane, 21-10, 21-13. Men's Doubles. Kennedy and Williams beat Hughes and Longmore, 31-20; Hayvice and Osbaldiston, 31-25. Women's Singles. Miss Sturrock lost to Mrs. Brennan, 19-21, 24-22, 17-21; heat Miss Tustin, 21-9, 16-21, 21-16; beat Miss Turner, 21-12, 21-11; lost to Miss Walsh,. 17-21, 21-19, 17-21. -Miss Williams lost to Mrs. Brennan, 21-18, 14-21, 23-25; lost to Miss Tustin, 17-21, 21-18, 19-21; lost to Miss Turner, 13-21, 21-19, 21-23; lost to Miss Walsh, 16-21, 17-21. The match between the Wellington! and Hutt Valley men's second teams resulted in -a win for Wellington by 13 games to 7 games.
