SEPTEMBER ACTIVITIES
The monthly meeting of the Plunket Society was held last; week, and was presided over by the president, Mrs. Jowett. The matron of the Sir Truby and Lady King Karitane Hospital reported that IB babies arid'six mothers were admitted during the month, and there were twenty-one- babies and three mothers in the hospital at the end of the month. A > Karitane nurse, Miss Ruth Hall, of Marton, has completed her training, and Miss Cooper and Miss Fleming had entered for training. Among the visitors who visited the hospital during the month were Dr. and Mrs. Bright Bannister, London, Mr. Ferguson, London, Mrs: J. Harris, I Johannesburg, Lady Sidey, Dominion president of the society, and delegates to the conference. Pupils of the sixth form at Karori School had completed making a large collection of babies' garments. -They were shown over the hospital and a demonstration, of the work done for the babies was given. The Plunket nurses' report staled that there were 32 new cases in, the ante-natal section and 140 expectant "mothers were under supervision. There were 110.. new cases in 'the post-natal section. The nurses paid 1404 visits to homes, and 2541 adults, 2159 babies, and 328 visited the Plunket rooms at headquarters and in the suburbs and out-stations. Miss Hooper visited Paekakariki and Paraparaumu and also gave an address at the Paekakariki Women's Institute, finding great interest and- enthusiasm in the Plunket work in these districts.
