LOWER HUTT EFFORT
A meeting of the executive committee of the Lower Hutt Health Camp organisation was held on Monday. The organiser, Mr. A. J. Gearing,"reported, that £13 worth of "health" stamps had been sold at the recent Industrial Exhibition.
It was decided to hold a street day on Friday, October 25. In the afternoon a baby show will be held in Riddiford Park. A prize will be given for the healthiest baby, the entrance fee to be a "health" stamp. In the evening, at the corner of High Street and Queen's Road, there will be an open air variety concert, including a nigger minstrel show and a demonstration by the Hutt Valley V.M.C.A.
The Association Football Club has offered to give the proceeds of a dance on October 19 and the Waimarie Croquet Club a sports afternoon. The railway workshops will be asked to organise a dance and to give other assistance.
The committee desires to organise a house-to-house collection and will need at least 100 helpers. It was decided to ask the summer sports clubs to undertake to collect in their respective districts.
