LINCOLN COLLEGE
TRAINING FOR WOMEN
DISCUSSION BY BOARD
(.By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, October 8.
The suggested admission of women as students of the Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln was discussed at length by the Board of Governors of the college today: Two proposals were made, one- that women students.might.be admitted and a special hostel built to accommodate them, and a second that instructresses to be employed at the college might give short-term courses to girls. In this case the college would not provide accommodation but arrangements would have to be made for. the transport of pupils. ' .
All members agreed there was need for such training as would be provided by a hostel for girls at the college. Several members said they thought such^ an innovation was outside the present functions of the institution and that no funds were available for building and running a hosteL
The proposal had been made by the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union and a committee of three was set up to discuss the subject further with representatives of the division.
