LOUNGE REDECORATED
A PLEASANT•PARTY
The first party to be held in the Grand Hotel's lounge since it has been redecorated took place last night, when the Kia Ora (N.Z.j Club held a thoroughly enjoyable musical and social evening.
Against pale, primrose cream walls and woodwork the profusion of glorious scarlet and yellow .flowers that were used lor decorations gave a very modern and refreshing- effect. Low, broad bowls, ■■ some' filled with a mixture of red anemones and double daffodils, several with . red tulips and bulbs,'and others with red and yellow ranunculi, stood on all the small tables, and jars of scarlet flowers were placed olL thre- pl^n modern mantles, below which braziers of glowing coals (in reality electric■; heaters) gave off a pleasant warmth. The lights were shaded by. cylinder-like shades made of white opaque glass fitted with chromium plate. These formed wall brackets and. chandeliers. Glass doors leading into... a small adjoining room, Jn which there was a 1 large grand piano, were thrown, open,-making a splendid place for the musicians to give their performance. The guests, comfortably seated.-in sofas and'armchairs arranged informally about; the lounge, greatly enjoyed the delightful' programme presented. ■■ _:vv/-\ ■■■-•;..■■■;. .■■.■-■ -,■'■ • Mr.,X: McKenzie, president of the
