MERCANTILE LEAGUE
A decision was made by the Wellington Mercantile Cricket League's management committee, last night that competitions be commenced on October 19. It was decided that at least two A grade-games be played at' Athletic Park each Saturday, snd that other A grade games be played, on the following grounds: . Newtown Park, Wakefield Park, Kilbirnie, and Hospital (Porirua). The grounds committee reported that in reply to its application lor 33 wickets the parks and; reserves department could allocate only'3l wickets. Four wickets were available for use. at Athletic Park and one at Porirua. . ■'."■"'' ' ' • ' An invitation was received frbrn the Christchurch Suburban Association for a representative game .with the Mercantile League at ChristchufcH on January 1 and 2. Applications for admission to the Mercantile League from the Audit Department, Wright, Steph.enspn, and Tfiubmans Sports Club B, were approved. It was decided to write to Burch and Co. pointing out that there were not enough grounds to accommodate other teams this year. The grading, together with the draw for the first round of games, is as follows:— A grade: Customs v. Koseneath; Woolworths v. Amalgamated Bricks; Taxes v. Jasco; Smith and Smiths v.
