MIRAMAR LADIES' TOURNEY
PLAY IN SECOND ROUND
The wind, which had veered in characteristic Wellington fashion to the north this morning, still troubled many competitors in the second round of the open championship tourney being held by the Miramar- Ladies' Golf Club.
The most interesting match this morning was that between Miss Winnie Barns-Graham and Mrs. Chrisp, of Gisborne. Miss Barns-Graham was 3 up at the turn after having laid her opponent an impossible stymie at the fifth, in spite of a 6 at the second. The tenth was halved in bogey .s's and Mrs. Chrisp took the next with a 5 to 6. At the short fourteenth Miss BarnsGraham, taking a No. 6 for. her second, duffed her shot, and at the. fifteenth her second was down the bank to the right of the hole, Mrs.' Chrisp" taking 4 to her 5. The next was halved in bogey 4's, and Miss Barns-Graham was dorihie 2. Af the seventeenth both got the rough at the side of the green, but Miss Barns-Graham's.putt was ,more accurate, ,and: she took the hole with a 5 to 6, winning the match 3 and 1. : Mrs. Chrisp. seemed, a trifle nervous at first, but steadied up later. Miss Barns-Graham's chip shots were more accurate. She took 82 for the round. • ' Aftet being all square at the; turn, Mrs. Slater played good, steady golf to defeat Miss Richm.ond 3 and 2. Mrs. McCarthy was. .unable to connect with her tee shots,-which-largely accounted for her defeat by Miss Petrie, whp, however,, was -playing splendid and accurate golf. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP.
