SKELETON WEED

AUSTRALIAN WHEAT

The possible importation.of skeleton weed with Australian wheat is a subject to which attention^has been directed by Parliament recently. Reference to it was, made today at the Dominion executive nieeting of the New Zealand Farmers' Union when it was urged by South Canterbury that attention be drawn to the danger of the importation of the weed.

Mr.- W. W. Mulholland said that it appeared to be a very serious weed in Australia, but not much was' known about it in New Zealand. He did not think it was even known if the weed would grow in the Dominion.

It was decided to apply to the Department of Agriculture for a report.
