EMPIRE WRESTLING TITLE.
George Walker •will be faced with one of the hardest tasks of Us wrestling career when he meets Harban Singh, at the Wellington Show Stadium on Saturday night in a match for the professional heavyweight championship of the British Empire. By his previous victory over Walker and his defeat of..th.e.SQUth African champion, Peter Venter, Harban Singh has proved himself an outstanding wrestler. - The purpose of his visit to New Zealand was to capture, if possible, the Empire crown. Singh declares that it was no fluke that enabled him to beat Walker and that he is going to be 'all out" to win again. He is training secretly, beginning at daybreak each day at one of the city gymnasiums with specially-selected sparring partners. He says that he is wrestling better now than ever before. Though Singh is confident Walker is not likely to relinquish easily an honour which he has claimed to hold for a long time. He is in better condition than he has been previously this season and those who respect his shrewd ringcraft will realise that he is not likely to be out-manpeuvred by the wily Indian. A special series of amateur preliminaries will include challenge matches.
