Political Federation in Christchurch has had no repercussions in the Nationalist ranks in Dunecun, which are as unified and as strong as •on the night when the alliance was made about three months ago. ,
Several men who took a very live interest in the old Liberal Party and later in the United Party are on the committee of the National Federation here, and although they cannot sec eye to eye with the policies of the Coalition Government and are openly opposed to some of its measures they have pledged themselves to support the Nationalists and intend fully to honour their pledges. They were faced with supporting the Government with which they had much in common and had few grounds for complaint or the creation of another party built on Liberal foundations, which would have caused vote-splitting and enhanced Labour's prospects of success in this district.
