MANAWATU SEAT
MR. HORNBLOW'S PROPHECY
(Special to the "Evening Post. 1') PALMERSTON N., This Day. A prophecy that if both he and Mir. J. Linklater, M.P., remained in the campaign as National Government candidates, Labour would "walk in" for Manawatu, was made by Mr. J. K. Homblow, of Foxton, when addressing electors at Rangiotu last evening. The interest that has developed in this election situation was manifest by the large audience;Mr. Hornblow endeavoured to'justify his attitude ..thai; his name, with that. of Mr. linklater, should go.'.to a ballot to see who should be the official candidate. He contended that Mr. Linklater had not measured up td the standard of efficiency, required of members of Parliament in this country; and that it was a distinct reflection on the constituency that it should have to seek out a representative from another electorate, -..- ~,..... . .. ... ■
Mr. Linklater residers irithe Palmerston electorate, .though only the width of a road separates bis'farm from the constituency ; he represents.
