WELLINGTON EAST
MR. MAZENGARB AT MIRAMAR
Mr. O. C. Mazengarb, Nationalist candidate for Wellington East, addressed a meeting in St. Aidan's Hall, Miramar, last evening. Mr. Andrew Fletcher presided. . .
The hall was crowded, and in the early stages of the address there was considerable interruption while extra forms were being brought-in to accommodate the people who were standing in the doorway and outsidel The meeting had been advertised for "friendsand supporters," but it was obvious from the interjections that a number of those present held Socialistic views. Mr. Mazengarb soon obtained an ascendancy over the interrupters, and his remarks on the unemployment situation were followed with evident interest, and frequently applauded. He considered that this problem, like the question of defence, should be treated as above party. The acute stage of unemployment had passed, and as we were in a state of sub-normal prosperity the time was opportune for a great co-operative attempt "to rid the country of this cancer on the body politic."
