CHICAGO FACTORY WRECKED

EIGHT PEOPLE KILLED

(Received October 8, 1.15 p.m.) CHICAGO, October 7. Eight persons were killed, fifty injured, and four are missing as the result of an explosion and fire which wrecked the Gliden Soya Products factory. • The damage is estimated at 500,000 dollars. An accumulation of dust or gas is believed to have been responsible for the explosion. Window panes were: broken in buildings a mile away. The explosion destroyed a six-storey building, transforming it into a wreck of twisted steel "and concrete.,,. It will require a week to search for the bodies.
