PRICE OF POTATOES
GROWERS HOLDING BACK
(By telegraph.) ;; .;; (Special to the "Evening/Post.") ; DUNEDIN, This .Day. Good-quality table potatoes are still extremely scarce and'merchants have recently offered growers £18 a ton. This appears a very enticing price tot growers with supplies on hand, to quit their produce, but they consider the value will rise higher, and that an-offec of £25 a ton would probably cause them to think seriously of selling. ' The public no doubt class these growers as' profiteers, but it must be remembered that the public have.been obtaining table potatoes for a number of years at a price that hardly covered the working .expenses of the "grower, and the present short supply with its attendant high, prices will enable a few growers to make up losses experienced in the past.
