SOME RECENT MEETINGS
ORDER OF FORESTERS.
Court Lady Glasgow*.—C. R. Sister A. Morns presided over a well-attended meeting. The woodwards' reports were received. Sisters Hoy, Tester, Scott, andJKivell were elected to represent the Court at a bowls, tournament. District officers paid their annual official visit, and were welcomed by the C.R. The District Chief Ranger, Bro. Bedding, supplied some interesting figures showing the progress of the various courts during the last twelve months. Other district officers also spoke of the work of the order. Sister Tester reported attending a meeting of the Medical Institute and the A.O.F. Hospital Association. A vote of thanks to visitors concluded, a pleasant evening. MANCHESTER UNITY ODD' FELLOWS. Loyal Tararua Past Grands Lodge— me quarterly meeting was held in Eketahuna -Lodge's hall recently and was presided over by Bro. G. "Willingham. There was a fair attendance of Past Grands from Pahiatua and Eketahuna. The annual balance-sheet was adopted. The lodge was reported to pc in a sound financial position, and the membership increasing. A notice of motion respecting future meetings was discussed, and on being put to the Vote was lost. A report on the recent ritual competition disclosed that the Mangatainoka Lodge, Pahiatua; had retained the shield by a margin of 8 points. Loyal Britannia Lodge.—Bro. Treadwell, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Visitors were present in the persons of Bro. Wallace, P.D.G.M., from Waipawa, Hawke's Bay, Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, Grand Secretary, and Bro. Young, Galatea Lodge, South Melbourne. Lodge honours were accorded visiting brethren. It was resolved that a letter be sent to Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler congratulating them on the recent celebration of their golden wedding. An invitation was received from the Past Grands' Lodge (Wellington), to attend a lecture in the Antipodean Hall, the speaker being Bro. A. G. Shrimpton, and the subject "National Health Insurance." During the evening three candidates were initiated. After the lodge was closed members enjoyed indoor bowls and ping-pong. Loyal Petonc Lodge.—Bro.. A. G. Steffenson. N.G., presided over a good attendance. Bro. Brocklebank, jun., reported on the lodge's bowls team. Bro. McDonald presented a silver button, suitably engraved, for donation to the winner of the singles bowls tournament to be held shortly. Bro. McLeod made the sick visitors' report. At the conclusion of routine business the lodge closed and members' and visitors enjoyed games of ping-pong and cards. 1.0.0. F., N.Z. Wildey Lodge (Island Bay).—Bro. J. Pagani, N.G., presided over a large gathering. Bro. G. Steel (Zeajandia Lodge) was also present. Two members were reported on the sick fund and one off, and relative sick pay, medical refunds, and general accounts were passed. Reports from the Christmas Tree and other committees were received. The N.G. reported on an official visit to Pride of Karori Lodge, where the District Travelling Gavel was deposited. The election of officers for the ensuing term was conducted, and arrangements were completed for an "open night." Onslow Lodge (Khandallah).—Bro. G. Farrelly, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Officers for the following term were elected, and various suggestions regarding the work of the new term were discussed. Southern Cross Lodge.—Bro. E. K. Binsted, N.G., presided over a large attendance. Accounts totalling £66 4s were passed. Eleven members were reported on the sick list: sick visitors' reports were also received. One candidate was initiated, and a further candidate nominated. One member was admitted on transfer. Several social invitations were accepted. Officers for the ensuing term were elected, and the standing, audit, social, sick-visiting, parlour bowls, and medical committees, also the dispensary and U.F.S. Council delegates were appointed for the new term. Bro. G. F. Rudkin, Grand warden, reported on a visit to Waipukurau and Hastings, conveying greetings from these lodges. He also presented the P.G. collar and P.G.M. jewel of the late Bro. F. Wills, which had been handed over by a son. Arrangements for the appropriate custody were left in the hands of the standing committee. The social committee reported progress in regard to the children's Christmas party, and arrangements made for the installation of officers at next meeting. The fiftyeighth anniversary .will be held at the last meeting of October, arrangements being reported to be. well-in ■hand. Belleyue Lodge (Lower Hutt).— Bro. J. jßymington, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Visitors included the Grand Warden, Bro. G. F. Rudkin, the D.D.G.M., Hutt Valley district, Bro. A. J. Bargh, and Bro. Stuart (Heretaunga Lodge). Two candidates were elected, and a further one nominated. It was decided that Health stamps be used during the ensuing quarter, and a report of the standing committee recommending the presentation of three Past Grand collars on installation night was adopted. Officers for the ensuing term were elected, and the regular and special committees necessary were appointed. A vote of welcome was extended to visitors, the Grand Warden and Bro. Bargh making appropriate replies. Ngati-Awa Lodge (Woburn).—Bro. A. H. Cohen presided. The following officers were, installed by Bro. A. J. BargH, D.D.G.M., for the ensuing term: —J.P.G., Bro. A. Cohen; N.G., Bro. E. J. McGregor; V.G., Bro. D.. Reynolds; financial secretary, Bro L. F. Robert-son-Taylor; recording secretary, Bro. R. Martin; treasurer, Bro. B. C. Batten; and chaplain, Bro. E. S. Bowcock. The following appointed officers were installed:—R.S.N.G., Bro. R. W. Johnson; L.S.N.G., Bro. A. J. Bargh; L.S.S., Bro. A. McPhie; 1.G., Bro. E. Webb; 0.G., Bro. R. Martin. Hearty votes of welcome were accorded visitors from Bellevue and Heretaunga Lodges, to which Bros. R. MaCDonald and A. R. Creagh replied. The installation team was congratulated, Bro. A. J. Bargh replying. The evening terminated with table tennis. GOOD TEMPLARS. Pioneer Lodge.—A most enjoyable time was spent by members and friends. The programme consisted of songs, dancing, and elocutionary items. The following contributed to the programme:—Miss V. Smith, Mrs. Jansen, Bro. C. A, Cooze, Misses Betty Sparkes, Shirley Turner, Pearl Robinson, Ashley Cooper, and Ralph Wilkins. Miss Henry, Sister Mrs. Crease, Miss Turgeuse, and Mr. F. O'Hagan. A vote of thanks was accorded all who contributed to the programme, and to Bro. Cooze for the evening's entertainment. Tlio singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant evening to a close. ORDER OF RECHABITES. Kilbirnic Tent.—Sister Johnson, P.C.R., p.resided over a fair attendance. On,e member was reported sick. Reports were given by Bro. F. G. Johnson, Medical Institute, Sister Johnson, on the ritual competition, and Bro. Chadburn on a meeting, of the provincial council. One member was received on transfer, and one new candidate proposed. As the C.R., Bro. Bennett, finds it difficult to attend meetings, it was decided that Sister Johnson act as his deputy. A pleasing feature of the evening was the presentation to Bro. A. Wilson of a P.C.R. s collar. Bro. Wilson is how residing in Wellington, and the collar had been forwarded for presentation by Pride of Christchurch Tent. Remits for the annual Wellington Provincial Council meeting were dealt with. After the meeting Bro. F. Johnson took charge, of the social hour, the prize-winners for the competition being Sister W. Badger and Bro. Dixon.
