EMPIRE WRESTLING TITLE.
The first contest of the season for the heavyweight wrestling championship of the British Empire will take place at the Wellington Show Stadium on Saturday night' between George Walker (New Zealand, title-holder) and Harban Singh (India, challenger).'Harban Singh: defeated Walker in his first match here, but the title was not then at stake. There has since ;been;a- decided difference' of opinion among critics as to' whether Singh's ■'. victory was the result of a lucky accident or of superior ringcraft. Saturday's match should provide. the solution to the problem. Harban Singh has been having special training for: this match, and states himself to be~ heavier and fitter than before. If this is so Walker will find the successful defence of his title a hard task. A title contest with Walker was the purpose of - Harban Singh's visit to New Zealand, and he will make a strenuous bid for the championship. Both his record and bis performances here stamp the Indian as a fine wrestler. He has secured three wins over-Tom Lurich, but regards his coming bout with Walker asTikely to be the hardest of his ring career.
