FULHAM'S CLOSE CALLS
Referring to the success of Fulham in the Victoria Grand' National Hurdles a fortnightt ago, W. Sandiford, who rode the gelding, said that Fulham almost came to grief at the second last hurdle.
Fulham struck the obstacle with his chest, Sandiford said, and he thought he was sure to fall. The gelding, however, cleared it cleverly. Fulham again jumped the last hurdle poorly, but the moment he landed he knew that Fulham had the measure of Mystic Peak. Fulham made several ragged jumps, but his stamina prevailed.
