The Wellington College Old Boys' second fifteen has a pair of good backs in Gray and Binning, both of whom have pace and resolution, and kick very well. Gray on Saturday was inclined to send the ball along without making ground, and Binning was served with some wretched passes, picking some of them up very neatly. Dickey went for the line resolutely, and Sadler, well served with the ball, got some great opportunities through the anxiety of the Berhampore forwards to smother Gray.

Spencer (Berhampore) had a very heavy afternoon, and his sure fielding and powerful kicking got his side out of a lot of trouble. He tackles well also, and, though he is not altogether sure with the ball on the ground he looks like a good full-back in the making. Maisey, a neat, •straight-run-ning five-eighth, was the best of the other Berhampore backs. He handled well and tackled splendidly, but got little support on attack.

Orme, Eastbourne's centre on Saturday, showed up as one of the best backs on the side. He ran and handled well and scored two tries. D. Plank was rather weak in his passing but his defence was very sound. J. Plank proved an able substitute for Foley at half-back.
