SCHOOL PULLOVER

This school pullover, which may be worn either full length or Moused, is knitted with the school colours inlet at the cuff and neck. The colours can, if. desired, be worked into the basque, too. Measurements. —Bust 34in, sleeves ! 18in, full length of jumper 19in, shoulders 13in. •■ ■ . Materials Required.—Five ounces o[ 3-ply super kasha, l"sk. each of 3-ply light; green and brown, 1 pr. each of No. S) and No. 14 needles. Back.—Cast on 82 sts., using the No. 14's and kasha wool, and work in rib of knit 1, purl 1, for 3in. Knitting two rows of green after lin, then Jin kasha, two rows brown, Jin kasha, two rows green, back to kasha to complete the 3in. Change to No. 9 needles and Ist row: Knit in pattern, of X 5, P 1, increasing 1 st, at end to complete pattern. 2nd row: Purl back. 3rd row: K2, * P 1, K5, repeat from * to end, K2. . 4th row: Purl back. Continue to knit these four rows until work measures 13in. To shape armholes, cast off 6 sts. at beginning of next two rows; Knit in pattern until armhole measures 6£, then cast off five at beginning of next six rows and four at beginning of the next two. Cast off remaining 31 sts. for back of neck. : Front.—Cast on 100 sts.. Rib for 3in, Inserting colours as before. Change to No. 9 needles, increasing 1 st. Work in pattern as for back until work measures 12in. Then divide for V neck, taking half sts. on ! two needles and

knitting two tog. at V edge every 4th row. When work measures 13in, cast, off. 6 sts. at beg. of next two rows and knit two. tog. four times each side. Continue without shaping. until armhole measures 6£in. Cast off shoulders as for back. ■ . \ .' . .

Sleeve—Cast on 54 sts. on the 14's. Work in rib for 3in, also inserting the colours here. Change to No. 9 needles. Work in pattern until sleeve is 7in long, then increase 1 st. at each end of needle every inch until sleeve measures 18in long, when there should be 77 sts. on needle. Cast off. by knitting' two ■ tog; at each end of needle every row till only 17 sts. are left.

Join shoulder seams and then knit up 35 sts.: at back of neck and 50 d6wn each side on No.. 14 needles, using the kasha wool. Rib for lin, knitting two tog. three times at point of V every 4th row and working two rows each of green and brown after Am of rib, then kasha again, and cast off. .

To Make Up.—Join side seams and sleeve seams and turn inside out, pinning out to required'measurements on an ironing board—hold out the point of the neck with a pin io make a good V point. '
