EXPORT BOARDS
MORE CO-ORDINATION
ATTITUDE OF MINISTER
At the recent meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union members expressed the opinion that, more co-ordination between the Meat Board and the Dairy Board was desirable as their interests were interrelated to a certain extent. The executive decided to suggest to the Government that one of the Government nominees on the Meat Board should be a Dairy representative, and that one of the Government nominees on the Dairy Board should be a Meat Board representative. A remit to that effect which was passed previously was consequently reaffirmed.
The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. C. E. Macmillan) was advised accordingly, and he has replied that the matter has been given further con^ sideration. It appeared, he stated, that the rearrangement brought about by the legislation passed last session would go far to bring about co-ordination between the boards on the points where their interests more or less came together. He suggested that the matter should be held over in the meantime..
"I intend to go into the general question with the Executive Commission of Agriculture later when the position as regards our exports of primary produce, becomes , clearer." the Minister concluded.
