In the Davis Cup tennis match Farquhardson (South Africa) defeated Hedda (Poland). 64, 7-5, 4-6. 0-6, Kirby (South Africa) was leading against Tarlowsky (Poland), 9t7, 9-7, 6-8 when play was stopped for the day owing to bad light.
