FIRE PREVENTION
ESSAY COMPETITION
The enlarged/photographs of Fire Brigade members and appliances offered as prizes in the essay competition for school children, arranged in connection with Fire Prevention "Week in March, were presented to the winners at the Central Fire Station today by the deputy-superintendent (Mr. J. Creeke). The chairman of the Fire Board (Mr. N. Nelson) and the superintendent (Mr. C. Woolley) were unable to be present.
Mr. Creeke said that the essays generally of a very good standard, the competitors showing an excellent knowledge of the subject, "Fire Prevention." Sylvia Scaysbrook, 37 Devonshire Road, Miramar, was the winner of the girls' section, and Harold Wilmot Beale, 18 Asquith Terrace, Brooklyn, won the boys' section.
