U.S.A. SWIMMERS

NEW YORK GALA

Amazing performances by world's recordholder, Jack Medica, Adolph Kiefer, and Richard Degener, were the highlights of the U.S.A. National indoor swimming championships for men at a three-day gala in the New York, A.C. twenty-five yards pool recently.

American experts are delighted with the performances returned, and unanimously acclaim the meeting as the most brilliant in the history, of water sport in America. Nearly 200 swimmers contested the individual events, and sixteen teams swam in the relay events. With the scum gutters closed, and five swimmers in narrow lanes in each heat, the water was exceptionally rough and the indifferent lighting was responsible for faulty turns in almost every race.

Results indicate conclusively that' Japan, wonderful as her swimmers are, will have to show improvement on the form of 1932 to repeat . the victory gained at Los Angeles in that year (states ah overseas writer). Here are the results:—
