THE REP. TEAM

SELECTOR CRITICISED

"While fully realising the difficulties that confront the sole selector 'in choosing a representative team I consider a little enlightenment should be given at times to keen supporters and followers of the game to enable them if possible to follow the lines of reasoning and methods of selection that are adopted by the selector concerned," writes "Fair Play."

"To be brief the Hospital Club are at present comfortably , ensconced in their position at the head of the First Division, yet only two of their members are selected, one full-back and one half-back.- While giving full credit to the Hospital defence for the sterling displays they have given during the present season, equal praise is surely due to their first line, who up to date have scored 22 goals. Yet not one of the forwards has been considered, and apart from A. Gibb, the veteran Winger, they are all in their early twenties, which at least rules out the cry of too old for a reppresentative match. It may be interesting to the selector to know that hot one of the forwards selected to play against Auckland has been successful in scoring a goal against Hospital during the present season, which is surely enough evidence that the defence is worthy of a more impartial consideration than has been shown by the selector."
