MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Police /and summons cases in the Magistrate's Court yesterday were dealt with by Mr: E. D. Mosley, S.M. John Moriarty was fined 10s for defaulting in the payment of an instalment of the unemployment levy.

Bail in the sum of £50, with sureties totalling the same amount, was granted to George Frederick Edwards, aged 21, a butcher, who was further remanded until next Wednesday on charges of attempting to steal a connecting rod and piston valued at £.1from H. M. Duthie and of stealing a rug valued at £3. Henry Horace Smith, 1 aged 35. a labourer, was further remanded to next Wednesday on a charge of breaking and entering the shop of J. E. G. Furness in Darlington Road and stealing' frofti rt tobacco, cigarettes, and about £1 in money, of a total value of £30. Bail was allowed in the sum of £100 with sureties to the same amount and he is to report daily to the Detective Office. .
