LAMB MARKET QUIET

The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business this week:—Trade in wethers and ewes is slow. The market for lambs is quiet and unchanged. The demand for beef is affected by low prices of chilled. Wethers, light 3 5-8 dto 4Jd pec lb, heavy 3d to 3Jd; ewes, 2Jd to 3 3-8 d; lambs, 2's 6 7-8 d to 7d, B's 6 7-8 dto 7d, 4's 6 5-8 dto 63d, seconds 6 l-8d to 6Jd; ox hinds, 3 srßd to 3 7-8 d; ox fores, 2 5-8 dto 2 7-Bd. Levin and Co.,' Ltd., have received the following cable.from their London agents, dated June .7, giving North Island frozen meat quotations as follows:—Down lambs, 28/361b 7d per lb, 36/421b 7d; crossbred lambs, 28/361b 6 7-Bd, 36/421b 6 7-8 d; quality lambs, average 30/311b, 6 l-8d; wethers, under 481b 43d, 48/561b 4d, 56/641b 3 5/Bd, 64/721b 3 5-8 d; ewes, under 481b 3 3-Bd, 48/561b 2 7-Bd, 56/641b 2 5-Bd, 64/721b 2Jd; New Zealand prime ox beef, 160/2201b, 3id. Compared with last week's quotations, Down lambs, 28/481b, and crossbred lamb, 28/361b, l-8d per lb lower; second quality lamb, jd per lb lower; wethers, under 641b, l-8d per lb lower; ewes, l-8d per lb lower. The market is quiet. Prices weakening all round.-
