"Evening Post," May 10. Trading in Government Stocks and Bonds this week has been but moderate. Prices, however, are well sustained, and the., market may be described as firm. Business in general was fairly active in all"6tner sections of the list, with a good demand.. for bank shares and a general appreciation in the values of such investments, in which advance the shares of the Reserve Bank participated. Insurance shares are all strongly, held. The market lor all non-speculative investments is firm and the business done during this short week may be described as brisk. But little attention was paid to coal, gas and shipping shares during the week although m this group there were keei inquiries for Westport Coal at 21s, Puke mvros at 22a, Renowns at 6s 9d, thes< showing a rise on the week. Gas sharei were firmly held, with buyers of Timarui at 20s. Shipping shares were on a quid market, with .buyers of Huddart, Parkei (ord.) at 37s and (pref.) at 25s Gd to 2Gs.
