At Lower Hutt Percy Dowse, Labour candidate for the Huft Valley Power Board, and speaking for himself and the other candidate, ■ Ernest Nelson1 made an eloquent plea for co-opera-tion between the Gas Board and Power Board. Pointing out that they were both publicly owned utilities organised exclusively to serve the residents of Lower Hutt, Petone, and surrounding districts with power for heating, lighting, and cooking, he said that the losses ; through unwise competition had to be met by increased prices for gas and electricity. If co-operation was established between the two types of power the advantages of both of them could be made available to all residents
