MALFROY AND STEDMAN
(Received May 4, noon.) LONDON, May 3. Among those who qualified for the finals of the Bournemouth hard-court tennis tournament were the New Zealand Davis Cup pair, A. C. Stedmah and C. E. Malfroy, and the South Africans, Farquharson and Kirby, in the men's doubles; Fred Perry, in the men's singles; Miss K. Stammers, who beat last year's Wimbledon champion, and Miss M. C. Scriven, England's No. 2 ranking player, in the women's singles; and Prenn and Miss Dearman in the mixed doubles. In today's matches Perry showed excellent form in defeating D.NPrena Miss Dorothy Round's defeat by Miss Stammers was not surprising owing to - the .champion having a strained leg. Miss Stammers skilfully exploited her opponent's disability by means of the dropsKot . Results:— v- - '- Men's Singles, semi-final—F I Perry defeated D. Prenn, 64, 6-2, 6-4.
