He was welcomed by representatives of the Dominions Office and many New ZealanderS. Mr. Forbes expressed his pride in carrying a message of the New Zealand people's loyalty and affection to his Majesty. Mr. Forbes devoted his first Presi interview to an account of the improvement in New Zealand's economic position. He stated that New Zealand whole-heartedly approved of Great Britain's efforts towards the maintenance ox' peace during the present difficult situation in Europe. New Zealand, he said, was appointing a trade commissioner on the Continent, with headquarters at Brussels. to keep exporters fully informed of any opportunities and of the many and varying'regulations to which they had to conform. He hoped that New Zealand by 1936, or at the latest by 1937, would be linked up with the regular air service from Britain. - Mr. Forbes, in a message to the "Daily Mail," says that no part of the Empire will enter into the spirit of rejoicing more spontaneously than New Zealand, which is bound to the Mother Country by the strongest affection. Each generation is eagerly grasping and maintaining the tradition' of loyalty. The King is not a mere symbol of sovereignty. He is honoured and esteemed as a leader of his people
