JAPAN AS OBSERVER
A BIG TRADE ADVANCE
TOKIO, May 3.
.Mr. Hirota, Foreign Minister, told. a meeting of provincial governors that relations with China and America were much improved. Japan was keenly watching Europe. ' '
Foreign trade had phenomenally advanced, but while Japan was increasingly buying wool, cotton,, and other raw materials, anti-Japanese restrictions were spreading. Japan was doing her utmost to get these modified.
He warned them against imaginary exaggerated reports about international affairs misleading the public and producing unfortunate repercussions abroad, and requested more tactful police treatment of foreign visitors; who were steadily increasing.
