STATE ELECTIONS
THE USE OF WIRELESS
N.S.W. AND QUEENSLAND
LABOUR GAIN EXPECTED
(Received May 4,. 10 a.m.)
SYDNEY,. This Day.
The General Election campaigns in New South Wales and Queensland are going along quietly. Polling day in both States will be on Saturday next, May 11.
The fact that the party leaders are relying largely on' wireless addresses, coupled with extensive newspaper advertising, as the means of reaching the people has enabled them to deliver their messages with far greater decorum and effect than hitherto.
So. far as New South Wales is concerned it is not expected that there will be a marked swing away-from the Stevens Government, although it is regarded as inevitable that a few obviously Labour seats which were captured last election in the special circumstances then prevailing will, on this occasion, revert to the Lang Party. Mr. Forgan Smith, the Labour Premier in Queensland, confidently anticipates a renewal of office in that State.
