NOTES

.Mr. L. Russell, who before going to Taranaki was associated prominently with the Eastbourne and the Miramar Rugby Football Clubs, met with serious injury in a motor accident in Tarandki some weeks ago. Latest advices are that Mr. Russell's condition is improving. . ! ; .

B. A. Killeen, former Wellington Rugby representative, is reported to have played a "very impressive game' for Graf ton in a special' match at Auckland last Saturday. Two other exWellington players, H. F. McLean and Roddick, were also in the same team. McLean again looks like being a tower of strength, and Roddick will be of value as a forward as well as in the matter of place-kicking. L. K. Heazlewood, who also has figured prominently in. Wellington football, was on the opposing side (Manukau), for which team Poulton (an ex-Athletic player in' Wellington) was another good performer last season.

Hopes were entertained by Athletic this week that E.'W.'.Tindill would have recovered sufficiently from his nose injury at cricket to appear in the Rugby match with Poneke today.

A most impressive display as a fiveeighth was given by Fulton, of Thames Valley, in a curtain-raiser to the NorthSouth Rugby trial at Auckland last year. Fulton has now transferred to Auckland and he is a back who should be heard of in big football.
