WATER SHORTAGE

MEASURES IN BRITAIN

TO PREVENT RECURRENCE

(British Official Wirolcss.)

KUGBY, April 8.

In districts which experienced a water shortage during last summer's drought measures are being taken with, in many cases, Government assistance, to prevent recurrence. State grants have been made in rural localities for approved schemes with a total capital of £3,200,000 affecting 1100 parishes. The average total rainfall of Britain for the last six months was above the average, and temporary legislation, which remains in, force until the end of the present year, places urban water undertakings in a good position to obtain additional supplies should the necessity arise.
