FRANCIS WILLEY AND CO.
The creditors of Francis Willey and Co., wool merchants, of Bradford, met on February 21 and passed a resolution to wind up voluntarily (as already cabled). The meeting was private, but at the close a statement was issued by Lord Barnby, chairman of Francis Willey nnd Co., as follows:— "The company has passed a resolution for voluntary liquidation, and Sir W. H. Peat and Mr. Arthur B. Thoseby have been appointed liquidators. This company is only a unit in the group sometimes referred to as the 'Willey group of businesses,' and it is not anticipated that certain substantial businesses of the group will be adversely affected. "It is understood that by arrangement j with the financial creditors concerned, the creditors of Francis Willey and Co. for goods and services supplied had been or will be paid in full. "There is no alternative to the step taken in view of the non-renewal of the agreement with certain 'standstill''creditors, and it was taken as the only way of protecting the interests of all concerned and in the hope that it will lead to a basis for some reconstruction."
