Berlin, March 22. "Tne world's armament expenditure for 193U was £2,500,000,000, over thrice that of 1913 and double 1929", says an official of the German Institute for Business Research. "While the vrorld trade turnover decreased k per cent, the armament trade increased 12 per cent, despite the drop in armament costs. He adds that former customers have strikingly developed their own armament production. Russia who took 57 per cent of her aeroplanes from abroad in 1928, is now self-supply-ing and has quadrupled her output in four years. Many others, including South Africa1 and Australia, are seeking to. provide for their own needs.
