HEAVY RAIN IN AUCKLAND

SUFFICIENCY DOUBTED

AUCKLAND, This Day.

Heavy rain fell in Auckland for over three hours from 3.30 o'clock this morning. The fall totalled 93 points, arid though it was exceedingly welcome it is said by farmers and market gardeners to be insufficient to do a great deal of good. It was the first real rainfall in Auckland since January 2 and 3, when two inches was recorded.

The total fall in December was 2.38 inches and in January 2.72 inches, both below the average. .

Since the rain fell the temperature has fallen and the-air is much fresher.
