Poulter and Petley" (England) defeated Mrs. Corbett and Hartnell in the final game of the England-New Zealand match, giving: England victory by four rubbers, eight games, 318 points, to two rubbers, seven games, 273 points, in the first phase of the triangular Test. .
The second phase, Australia v. England, was. then begun. First- matches in the England-Aus-tralia contest resulted: Petley land) defeated McCleery (Australia); Hunt (Australia) defeated' Dv Pre (England); Windsor (Australia) defeated Poulter (England); Hunt (Australia),: defeated Wemyss (England). Progress totals are: England, one rubber, two games, 99 points; Australia, three rubbers, six games, 161 points.
