Eight bandits armed with revolvers and'a machine-gun boarded the Denver arid' Rio Grande mail, train tonight, forced the driver to stop the train, drove the crew back to the mail van, and ordered them-to direct the mail clerks to open the van. '

Meanwhile, the clerks, suspicious at the train stopping,' doused the lights and opened/fire on the bandits, who escaped in a lorry. One of the train crew was killed while running back to flag an oncoming train.-
